- Expertise in substance misuse services and addiction treatment.
- Experience working with adults with learning disabilities and complex mental health needs.
- Consultant-level practice in testosterone replacement therapy, men’s health and reproductive medicine.
- Active involvement in teaching medical students, postgraduate trainees and multidisciplinary teams.
- I have a thorough understanding of the legal principles underpinning the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended), Court of Protection procedures, and relevant case law.
- Independent Specialist Psychiatrist with extensive experience undertaking expert psychiatric assessments and preparing medico-legal reports. My work includes Mental Capacity Act assessments, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) assessments, Mental Health Act assessments, and independent psychiatric opinions for statutory bodies and legal proceedings.
- I have experience providing independent assessments for the Court of Protection, including Section 21A challenges and complex mental capacity assessments relating to residence, care, treatment and deprivation of liberty. My reports are evidence-based, objective and compliant with the relevant legal framework, with clear clinical reasoning to assist the Court and instructing parties.
- My practice includes assessing adults with a wide range of psychiatric disorders, cognitive impairment and neurodevelopmental conditions. I have substantial experience working collaboratively with solicitors, local authorities, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), NHS organisations and multidisciplinary teams, producing clear, well-reasoned reports within required timescales.
- My reports are prepared to a high professional standard and are designed to assist the Court through independent, balanced and impartial expert opinion.
Bio:
I am a Section 12-approved Psychiatrist with over 12 years of postgraduate experience working across a wide range of mental health services, including CAMHS, adult community psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, learning disabilities, substance misuse, liaison psychiatry, perinatal mental health and neurodiversity.
Alongside my psychiatric work, I am a consultant grade specialist in men’s health, testosterone replacement therapy and reproductive medicine, taking a holistic approach that integrates physical and psychological wellbeing.
I have extensive experience assessing, diagnosing and treating complex mental health difficulties across community, inpatient and secure settings, and I am passionate about delivering compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to individual needs.
